Our Brochure

Perpetual Care provides flexible and innovative care for children and young people with complex needs. We make a positive difference to the most challenging children, many of whom have experienced numerous placement breakdowns before coming to us.

The service offers two children’s homes in the beautiful rural location of Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire. Both homes are converted farmhouses which are fitted and decorated to an extremely high standard and are registered for up to five young people each.

Perpetual Care can accept referrals for young people between the ages of 9-18 of either gender who are in need of stability and structure to help manage the chaotic life styles and traumatic incidents they may have experienced.
We have a sustained record of success in improving outcomes for children coming into our care. By helping each child achieve a better education, health and social skills, we make a positive difference to their future.

Perpetual Care has a long successful history of working with Local Authorities in developing tailor made packages of care that can meet the need of each individual young person.

Perpetual Care employs a highly trained and experienced staff team who have a proven ability to improve outcomes for young people. By maintaining their high levels of professional practice and building meaningful, professional trusting relationships they are able to divert patterns of challenging behaviour and give young people the tools to deal with their anger in a more appropriate manner.
Perpetual Care recognises the importance of education in young people’s lives. Many of the children who are referred to us have experienced a sporadic education due to previous situations in their lives and many have disengaged from the educational process.

Elm Tree and Higher Cockham Farm have a range of educational options for each child and will work with each placing Local Authority to ensure that every young person reaches their full academic potential.

Excellent relationships exist between local schools and Perpetual Care who work in partnership to build the confidence and academic ability of each child. For some young people full time main stream education may not be possible at present so both children’s homes provide their own dedicated education provision with fully qualified teaching staff that are able to follow the National Curriculum until a full time education placement can be secured.

Young people who live at Elm Tree and Higher Cockham Farm are encouraged to participate in the wide range of activities that are arranged by the staff team and that are available in the local community. A healthy and culturally diverse range of food is offered on the menu and young people are supported in following a healthy lifestyle.

Young people are consulted on a day to day basis with regards to the running of the home. The staff team speak formally with young people in the children’s meetings and key worker sessions and informally through daily interactions.  Perpetual Care believes young people should have their voices heard and acted upon as this creates a feeling of ownership and belonging to the home where they live.

Elm Tree Farm and Higher Cockham Farm are both set in beautiful rural surroundings and benefit from being within easy access to all the major motorway networks. Each home is furnished and fitted to a very high standard that is maintained to provide a warm homely environment. The young people’s bedrooms are of a good size and they are actively encouraged to be involved in the personalising of their rooms. Each home is set in extensive grounds with plenty of room for activities to take place.
