The NT&AS is a national organization which addresses the individual needs of looked after children and young people within the mainstream education sector.

For the children living at Heron House this means;

Professional support helping them get back into staying in mainstream education.
The young people’s educational experiences are ‘normalized’.
Educated within mainstream services in ways which meet their individual requirements.
Higher levels of educational attainment.
Encouraged to be active participants in their schools, neighborhoods and communities.

For Social Services and Local Education Authorities this means;

By re-establishing patterns of school attendance of children placed in residential care homes is a major factor in the local authority being able to return children to their own families or with foster carers and, therefore, to reduce the number of placements in independent homes.
Reduced exclusion rates.
A significant contribution to meeting a range of government targets
